BTG Designs - How to make an item a featured product

So you want to tell your store which products to feature on the front page? Here is how:

Step # 1: Go to your dashboard and select Catalog>Manage Products

Step 2: Click on the inventory item title link for the product that you wish to make a featured product. Do not click on the picture (it won't work.)

Step 3: To make this item a featured product on your front page put a tick mark in the "mark item as featured box" at the bottom of the general tab in the inventory item itself. If you want to remove it from the featured item page, untickmark that same box.

Step 4: Go to the upper right of your screen and click on the save button.

Step 5: Repeat step 1 to get back into your manage inventory items page. From this page you can verify that what you did just worked. If you did it correctly, the item picture will show a banner over the top of it that says featured.

Step 6: To change the number of featured products that appear on your home page: From your dashboard go to Settings and select General settings.

Step 7: Click on Product Display

Step 8: Scroll down to the featured and cross promote items section. Click on the arrow in the drop down box after the question, "How many featured products would you like to display." Select 3, 6 or 9 and hit update.
