So you want to forward your domain to your BISI store?  Here is how:

(Please note, if you have already customized your store and you are performing this domain change after your store is in operation, there are some extra things at the end of this tutorial that you will need to do!!!)

Step # 1: In your Bisi store go to settings>domain hosting - fill in the blank using the following example. Mine is www.BTGDesigns.net. I fill in BTGDesigns.net - no HTTP or www. That is all on the BISI site.

Step #2:
Go to your domain host - I will give goDaddy instructions. Go to the same area where we changed pointed the A record for Auctiva. To get there - log into godaddy, on the left hand side of the screen click on domain manager link.

Step # 3
Click on the domain you want to forward. A page comes up with three columns. The middle column is called Domain Enhancements. Scroll down the middle column to the next Row of information called Total DNS.  Letter B is what we will modify to look similar to what is in the picture. And if this domain has previously been forwarded to Auctiva Commerce - you will also mess with C.
Click on the Total DNS Control link (letter A.) Don't anyone tell me that A comes before B:) It does every where but step 3 of this tutorial!

Step # 4
A big page will come up. In the upper left it will say Domain Manager- Total DNS control. Look underneath it and veryify you picked the right domain to forward.

Step # 5:
This step is for domains that were previously forwarded to Auctiva Commerce. Look down to the row that says A Record. Go to the right and click on the notebook to the left of the X. Change the number that is in the points to IP address to 64.202.189.170. This will stop it from forwarding to AC, the new number is the IP address of the goDaddy forwarding server.  This resets this field so that the domain can be forwarded to BISI or used for any other site.

Step #6
Go to the line that says CNAMES and shows www. Move all the way to the right hand side of the page and click on the notebook to the left of the big red X. A box will come up that says CNAMES (Alias). Leave the www alone in the first box. In the second box type in your bisi URL. For example my http://BTGDesigns.mybisi.net would be entered as BTGDesigns.mybisi.net. Leave the box that says 1 hour alone, and click ok.

Step # 7
Go to the top of the page and click on the Domains tab. On the tool bar, click on forward.

Step #8
Tickmark the enable forwarding box. Then enter your address in the following format. (do not use mybisi.com) http://www.BTGDesigns.net. (odd because it appears that you are forwarding it to itself. Don't worry - it works. Click on 301 moved permanently, the click on ok.

Step #9
Wait while goDaddy forwards it and does the CNAMES thing (generally very quick - and you are done unless you previously customized your theme.)

Step #10 - (for you if you previously customized your theme)
In tabs 1-10 on your customized pages (i.e. all but your checkout CSS page) and any customized pages that might refer to any of your additional store pages(not the ones in your header or footer) you will have to make modifications so that your customers do not see the mybisi.com any longer.

Originally in your header and footer a link to a customized page, for instance shipping would look like this: http://yourstorename.mybisi.com/pages/shipping.  All references in the header and footer need to be updated to this: http://www.yourstoredomain.com/pages/shipping. So you are adding a www in front of your domain and after the http:// where there wasn't one before.  You are changing the store name to domain name if applicable. (For instance your original storename was areallyreallylongurl.mybisi.com and you bought the domain name  ashorturl.com - you will swap out the old areallyreallylongurl and replace it with ashorturl.com.)  Then you drop the mybisi.com .  The same method should be used on any customized pages that have references to other customized pages outside of the header and footer references.

Make the changes first on the home page in the header and footer.  Check them and make sure that they work.  Then copy the menu section from the home page and paste it on the other 9 pages.  Repeat this process with the footer if needed.  Update all pages.  Then check your customized pages for links.

This concludes this tutorial.
